Candy Cane Sparkly Stained Glass

Happy Saturday!  I had to try this technique again after playing with it for the CCC#1 card challenge.  This time I used a larger image and it worked a lot better.  The worst thing about this technique is waiting for the glue to dry, but it is so worth it!

I stamped the candy cane onto acetate with Stazon and then flipped it over and used my embossing buddy so that the glitter would not stick to everything it touched.  I learned that this is a very important step the first time I tried it, do not skip this step! I then applied the glue to the first section and added my darkest colour.  I repeated this until I was done going from darkest to lightest I then waited.  I used my glue pen on the patterned paper and added more glitter!  I then matted the image and used brads to anchor it.  I repeated this on the base, added ribbon, more bling and embossed the sentiment.  I’ve been trying to use up scraps of designer paper the last little while so I am sorry if I don’t remember where I got it from.

Today we are putting up the Christmas lights and cleaning up the house for Christmas!  Something about the snow has gotten me into the Christmas spirit, before yesterday I really hadn’t gotten into it!  I love this time of year, I just don’t like having to deal with driving in the snow, something I’m sure that I will mention more than once this winter.  I hope everyone is having a good day & thanks for stopping by!

November SheetLoad

Whew!  I did it just before the end of the month, I almost forgot about this card until I saw it while cleaning and moving all my stuff upstairs the other day.  I had figured out what I wanted to do with this sketch, I just had not put it all togeather.

I used the Bloom dots folder with the Core’dinations chocolate and sanded it to show the pink core, then I used terrific tape and glitter (burnished velvet) before punching out the cupcakes.  I love this Martha Stewart punch!  The top cupcake is attached directly to the mat, the second has a thin pop dot and the third I used thicker pop dots.  I then painted Shimmerz onto the prima flowers to add a little bit more bling.

Paper:Core’dinations, Bazzill, ? patterned  Stamp: CTMH Ink:CTMH, Vesamark  Other:Shimmerz, Glitter Ritz glitter, Kaiser pearls, Prima flowers, Terrific tape, Martha Stewart cupcake punch, pop dots, clear ep, Cuttlebug.

I hope that everyone is having a great Friday, I’m having fun playing and watching the snow fall!  I will post pictures of my space on Sunday once everything is tidy  😀  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving! (and some gift tags)

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American readers today!  I hope you all have a wonderful day with your family and friends!  I also hope that you have a great long weekend, and if you are able to get out, that you find some great Black Friday deals!  I’m pretty sure that where I am there will be no sales or deals to be found.

I was a very busy girl yesterday moving my crafting space from the basement to the loft for the winter.  Last winter I was just using the kitchen table while I figured out where I would put all my things, and in the spring I claimed part of the basement for myself.  Well, in the winter when we are using the wood stove for heat our basement is cold, there is no heat down there. And when the thermometer is reading 0 degrees F or  -17 C it is cold!  Now summer  was great, it was the best part of the house, we actually slept down there for a few of the really hot nights!  Anyways, it is the first time I have hauled it all the way up there and I am sore today!  The big move also gave me a chance to sort through all the stash, WOW!  There is so much there that I have not used since we moved up here last year.  I hate to throw anything away, but I have put a bunch of this stuff into a box and if I don’t use it this winter it is going to find a new home with whoever can use it.  I really like my new space, but I don’t have the table/counter space that I had in the basement, but I’m sure I will have it all figured out soon.  If you want to see what it looks like let me know and I will post a few pictures of it this weekend.

Okay, now onto why you are here.  I was in the mood the other day to colour and did not have a project in mind, so I stamped off a few of these snowmen and coloured them in with prismacolor pencils and oms and added stickles to the hat buckles.  I matted them and then added some elastic cord that I had in my stash.  Very simple, but handy to have at this time of year!

I’m off to finish orginizing my stuff and hopefully create a few new cards!  Have a great day & thanks for stopping by!

Life is in the little things ~ CSAD

100_1959Good morning!  I am so happy that I am finally able to post this card, it is my favourite card out of all of the ones that I have made for Susan over at ~Card Sketch a Day~.  I made this way back in September, you can tell just because I was able to take the picture outside on the deck!  I don’t think I will be able to do that again for a few long, cold and snowy months!

I started by putting terrific tape down on a brown base and then added brown glitter and burnished it.  I then stamped the flourishes onto the green cardstock and traced them all with the Sakura glue pen.  Once that had dried and added the green glitter and burnished before mounting it onto the brown base with pop dots, it is hard to see that in this picture.  I stamped the Verve sentiment and embossed with glittery embossing powder and then mounted it onto green card stock and glittered the edge of it with some more brown glitter!  I finished the card with Prima flowers and a few Pretties for the centers.

Paper:Bazzill Stamp: Verve, CTMH Ink:Memento, Versamark Other:Sakura glue pen, Glitter Ritz glitter, Peggy’s pretties, Terrific tape, Prima flowers, pop dots.

I hope that you like this card as much as I do, it really is one of my all time faves!  I hope you have a great Tuesday and as always, Thanks for stopping by!

Card Crazy Chicks Challenge #1

Good morning!  I joined a card makers only blogging group over at Splitcoast a little while ago and this is our first card challenge.  Tanja is the hostess for this challenge, if you are interested, the sketch and instructions can be found here.  It took me a little while to figure out what I was going to do until I saw the SCS tutorial on Sparkly Stained Glass.  I will absolutely try this again, only next time with a larger image as these ornaments were a bit small and hard to be exact with.

100_2069The hardest part of this card was doing the glitter, but again I would use a larger image next time.  I framed each of the circles with branches I punched with the Martha Stewart branch punch.  I also glued on a few micro fine silver beads and added little red bows to finish the wreaths. Yes, I did tie them myself!  I think that the rest of the card is pretty self explanatory.

Paper:Cosmo Cricket, Bazzill, Acetate  Stamp: Scenic Route  Ink: Stazon  Other: liquid glass, Martha Stewart branch punch, Glitter Ritz, satin ribbon, pop dots.

Well, that’s it for me right now, I have to get ready for work and do a bit of grocery shopping.  I hope that everyone has a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #67

I am so happy that it is the weekend, this week just seemed to drag on forever!  I printed off Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge yesterday, hoping that I would get a chance to play but no such luck.  I finally got a chance this afternoon when I got home from shopping.

I ran a piece of Core’dinations chocolate cardstock through the Cuttlebug with the distressed stripe folder and sanded it down to reveal the inner colour.  (I am lovingthis cardstock!)  The patterned paper is from Bo Bunny and the sentiment, which I embossed, is from Cornish Heritage Farms.  The button is from my stash, I’m guessing one that I took from Mom’s stash at some point!

This is another card for my mom’s friend.  I’m thinking the inside sentiment will be something like ‘I knew you could do it’, ‘I’m so proud of you’ or ‘you’ve come so far’.  I’m not quite sure yet, but when I figure it out I will print it off on the computer.  If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!

Paper: Core’dinations, Bazzill, CTMH, Bo Bunny Stamp: Cornish Heritage Farms Ink: CTMH, Versamark Other: Clear ep, Cuttlebug, button, hemp, pop dots.

I’m going to go and clean up my messy space and maybe play a little bit more!  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!
